Sandy Rustin is an actress, playwright, and mom. Her sketch comedy musical about parenthood, Rated P (for parenthood) (written with Dan Lipton & David Rossmer), opened to critical acclaim Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre in 2012 and is currently in development for television with ABC Studios. Her newest full length comedy, The Cottage, opened at the Astoria Performing Arts Center in 2013, and will make its regional debut at Theatre Aspen in the summer of 2014. Sandy's new webseries, Overbooked is in production for Nick Mom, Nickelodeon's newest network. Her webseries, It's Complicated, was just profiled in Variety and will soon launch on Stage17.TV. On Twitter, Huffington Post Parents and Nickelodeon have highlighted Sandy as a "funniest mom." Sandy was a long time blogger for Parenting.com and can currently be found waxing the parenting poetic on her own blog, http://ratedpforparenthood.blogspot.com/ (A book based on her blog is in development).
Sandy recently guest starred on Comedy Central's, The Amy Schumer Show and regularly appears at New York's The Upright Citizen’s Brigade in “Gravid Water” (named "Best Improv Show” by Time Out NY). She serves as Co-Artistic Director ofMidtown Direct Rep, and makes a delicious gluten free/dairy free lasagna that her children will actually eat.
As an actress, favorite NY credits include Modern Orthodox (New World Stages), I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Westside Theatre), Jolson & Company(Century Center), Sarah, Plain and Tall (Lucille Lortel), and Neil Simon’s Hotel Suite(Roundabout). She’s a player in “Don’t Quit Your Night Job,” and an “undercover agent” for Improv Everywhere. TV credits include "The Amy Schumer Show," “The Scariest Show on TV” (Comedy Central), “Law and Order; SVU,” “As the World Turns,” “All My Children” and “Guiding Light.” Sandy's voice can be heard on hundreds of TV shows, films, commercials, and audio books. She is a 2014 Audie Award Finalist for her narration of Beyond Belief, by Jenna Miscavige Hill.Northwestern University graduate.
