Sandy Rustin is an actress, playwright, and mom.
Her sketch comedy musical about parenthood, Rated P (for parenthood), opened to critical acclaim Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre in 2012, is enjoying a regional life, and is currently in development for television with ABC Studios/ABC Family and Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos.
Her full length comedy, The Cottage, (a 2014 Reva Shiner Comedy Award Finalist) opened at APAC in 2013, and made its regional debut to rave reviews at Theatre Aspen in the summer of 2014. Sandy's new series, Overbooked, which she created, writes, and stars in, is both online and on air on Nick Mom,Nickelodeon's newest network.
Her webseries, It's Complicated, was recently profiled in Varietyand has launched on Stage17.TV.
On Twitter, Huffington Post Parents and Nickelodeon have highlighted Sandy as a "funniest mom;" she can currently be found waxing the parenting poetic on her own blog. (A book is in development).
Sandy's newest play, Struck, a serio-comedy about a possibly cosmic event is currently in development.
As an actress, Sandy is currently performing in FOUND (the musical) at The Atlantic Theatre Company. She recently guest starred on Comedy Central's, The Amy Schumer Show and regularly appears at New York's The Upright Citizen’s Brigade in “Gravid Water” (named "Best Improv Show” by Time Out NY).
She is the Co-Founding Artistic Director of Midtown Direct Rep, and makes a delicious gluten free/dairy free lasagna that her children will actually eat.
Other favorite NY credits include Found (Atlantic Theatre Company), Modern Orthodox (New World Stages), I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Westside Theatre), Jolson & Company (Century Center), Sarah, Plain and Tall (Lucille Lortel), and Neil Simon’s Hotel Suite (Roundabout). She’s a player in “Don’t Quit Your Night Job,” and an “undercover agent” for Improv Everywhere. TV credits include "The Amy Schumer Show," “The Scariest Show on TV” (Comedy Central), “Law and Order; SVU,” “As the World Turns,” “All My Children” and “Guiding Light.” Northwestern University graduate.
